UPSTATE SCENIC, SCENIC CARPENTER
$25/Hour  (negotiable based on experience)
Full-Time position/starts immediately
8 Hour Shifts: Monday – Friday (40 hours/week). Hourly pay with time and a half after 40 hours worked in a single week.
Benefits package includes: Full medical & dental insurance; Company IRA with 3% employer match. Highly competitive PTO & paid holiday time off policies.
Reports to: President of Upstate Scenic

Immediate opening for a full time, year round Scenic Carpenter.
Successful candidate must be a strong finish carpenter with proficient scenic carpentry framing skills. Have a good knowledge of workflow to be able to move from task to task. Reliable transportation. Must be able to interact professionally with crew members and work together as a team. 
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasional overnight travel and weekend availability necessary. Upstate Scenic inc. is an equal opportunity employer.  Scenic Carpenter Duties and Qualifications

  • Perform a variety of woodworking duties, including but not limited to rough carpentry & finish carpentry
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment daily
  • The majority of the workday is spent indoors, but occasional out of shop, installations etc
  • Strong knowledge of technical theater
  • The position requires knowledge of various power tools – chop saw, table saw, screw gun, drills, sanders, etc. – and the ability to fabricate stage, set, and stair units
  • Willing to perform other duties as assigned; helping in other departments
  • The candidate should have experience reading and executing CAD
  • Knowledge of carpentry methods and mathematics necessary
  • Requires ability to communicate effectively in English, including understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to perform repeated bending, squatting, stooping, pushing, and pulling
  • Must be able to stand and walk for a prolonged period of time
  • Must be able to move, position, place and transport objects up to and including 75 pounds
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and scaffolding
  • Willingness to work overtime as available

 

UPSTATE SCENIC, CNC OPERATOR (CNC ROUTER & CNC PLASMA)
$28/Hour  (negotiable based on experience)

Have a good knowledge of workflow and be able to move from task to task. Reliable transportation. Must be able to interact professionally with crew members and work together as a team. CNC Operator Duties and Qualifications

  • CAD knowledge is a plus (Vectorworks)

UPSTATE SCENIC ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR POSITION
$25/Hour  (negotiable based on experience)
Reports to: Technical Director
Full-Time position
Hourly pay is commensurate with experience

Upstate Scenic is in search of an Assistant Technical Director who is responsible for assisting the Technical Director with all aspects of the following: project execution, including project timelines, planning, drafting, carpentry and construction, delivery, load-in/load-out, off-site installation, and other duties as assigned. Position may include offsite overnights.
Upstate Scenic is a fast-paced working environment. The Assistant Technical Director should be confident in balancing several projects simultaneously, maintaining a safe working environment, supervising load-ins, rigging, steel & aluminum fabrication, standard theatrical construction, CNC router operation, CAD drafting in Vectorworks, and life safety/fire codes. The Assistant Technical Director should be detail oriented, tidy, able to work independently, smooth under pressure and be up to date on evolving technologies, products, industry methods, and standard theatrical conventions.
This full-time, in-person commitment located in the rural Upstate New York town of Chatham, NY.  The Assistant Technical Director will share an office with the Upstate Scenic team.
